  • AD15 no sound

There is no signal or noise coming out of this amp, other than a very minute pop when it is turned on. The line out is oscillating at a high frequency and the freq changes when input signal is applied. Looking at the schem I think the main digi chip must be bad but not sure. If anyone's got any advice I'm all ears, otherwise back to the owner unfixed. FYI I replaced the output chip to no avail, before I checked the line out.. oops.

Sorry you're not finding any traction here - that thing is more of a computer than an amplifier. The signal comes in, gets a clean buffer and a clipped buffer, and those two signals hit a stereo ADC as Left and Right, respectively. The digital bitstream flows into those DSP chips for sophisticated mathematical torture, and back out to the DAC (same chip as the ADC). Thence to the power amp that has had a (starved-plate) 12AX7 stuck in it for marketing purposes.

There isn't an FX loop to break in and try the power amp (the headphone/line out jack is one-way). If the preamp sounds toasted, I'd say that whole board needs to go. Only then do you get to find out about the power amp.

You could try swapping tubes, but the one that's there is in a position that looks like a PI, so it's after the preamp and not likely to be instructive.

    Hope this helps!
