  • Morley PFL xformers

    Hello folks,
I have a Morley PFL pedal that was purchased in Britain & is 220V and needs to be convereted to 110. I have an old 110-220V converter xformer & have verified the pedal all works fine on 220v. (BTW I found this 1950's converter xformer box in a thrift store for $3! Gotta love that).

Now, these pedals have 2 power transformers. I haven't delved into the why's or wherefores on this, but just know I need them in the 110V variation.

The main xformer has a 2ndary that is a center tapped ~40Vac & the other is non-center tapped ~30vac.

They are very small in size to fit into that box, about 1 1/2" wide & ~1 1/4" tall.

Has anyone ever had to replace these little guys or have any suggestions on a source? I haven't checked with the standard places yet ie:Merc, Allen, Heyboer, etc.

    thanx, glen

    Well,
For anyone who might need this info at some point, I think I found some xformers that will work in here. I found the specs on Stancor.com & ordered them from OnlineComponents.com (Allied is a Stancor dist, but did not carry these).

It looks like the xformer that has ~30vac secondary is only there to power the pilot bulb...amazing to me, too. I found a 24vac version Stancor #P-8395 ~$12.00. The 28vac one was like $60.00 and really too big unless you mounted it somewhere else in that tight space. So I decided at our higher line voltage these days, 24vac would do the job after rectified to light the bulb.

The closest thing I could find that will fit to the center tapped 40vac is a P-8542 which is a 40vac CT. I also ordered another one that is 36vac CT, as it is physically closer.

I'll post the results when I see how it all works out. Thanx, glen

      Website for Telray-morley pedals

Looks like I'm posting to myself! Oh well, at least I get no arguements that way ;-] . guess I could have posted this in the Pedals/effects section.

Anyway FYI, here's a site for the Telray-Morley & more stuff:
