  • AVT-50 hum

    Hi people, Enzo,

I have an AVT-50-60-00 and have collected your schematics for it.

At random, the amp produces a mains hum and equally at random it goes away though sometimes a knock or two seems to coincide with it stopping.

The volume of the hum is directly related to the volume setting but is quite independent of any input being connected.

I have tapped my way through the components without any noticeable effect and, suspecting the valve, replaced it with a new ecc83 to no effect.

Without a scope, it is difficult to guess where it is starting and I wonder if anyone out there has had a similar problem, and if so, I'll hope you'll share your solutions with me

    Regards

    Chris

Tapping aside, resolder the filter caps on the board.

        AVT hum

        Hi,

It turned out to be an electrolytic on the main board, C17.

Resoldered, reassembled and now absolutely fine.

        Thanks for your help.

        Regards

        Chris
