Any further developments? I've been following along... Mine doesn't blow fuses, but powering it up produces loud 60Hz hum, and nothing else. I've been hoping I would be led to a simple solution here. So far, I find the participation very encouraging.

    Thanks!

Hi Wax, welcome to the forum. let me suggest just start a new thread for your amp. This thread has gone dormant. And if your amp doesnl;t blow fuses and his did, then it isn;t really the same problem anyway.

When the loud noise occurs, measure across the speaker terminals, is ther DC voltage? Should not be. or just look at the speaker cone - when you turn power on, does the cone move one direction and stay there? THAT is DC and is bad, turn off immediately. If no DC< you probably have a bad or disconected filter cap/

        Bfx 100 issues

I have had this perticular Amp in my shop and it's issue was with Q6 and Q5. Look for any signs of heat and check the MOSFETS with a meter to verify.

        hope this helps a little.
