    Tom,
The heater voltage is balanced. It is a bit high at 3.4 on each side.
I've never encountered this before. If the AC is coming out of the transformer that hot, is there an easy way to bring it down 1/2V on each side?
could this higher voltage be a culprit then?
    Thanks for the help!

No the heater voltage is only 8% higher than the nominal value. Actually very common.
This is not causing your problem and I say don't worry about it or make any changes because of it.

Since your unit has always had the hum since you got it, don't assume anything and start checking the grounds and general wiring.

Does the echoplex still have its original output coil cord?

          Silly Suggestion

Have you tried moving it farther away from your guitar amp? Some amplifers are better shielded on the top than others.

Enzo, I when I turn up the "Volume" knob about 10%, the unit hums to the point that my EP-2 is useless.

            Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds a little like an ungrounded cord, or a jack that has had a ground wire come loose. Pull the thing out of the case and have a look.

Could I go to Wal-Mart and buy one of those cheap ground adapters that adds the ground, or would that not help me diagnose the problem? Also, I can't find any loose ground wires... Maybe I'm not looking hard enough. Sorry I'm so ignorant!

When I'm running the signal without delay, it sounds great. But as soon as I turn the "Volume" knob up, I get the terrible hum that makes the Echoplex simply unusable. As you know, the "Volume" knob blends the dry (unaffected) signal with the wet (delayed) signal. So the more you turn the knob, the more the delayed signal is supposed to be mixed in. Only for me, I get the hum.
