  • On tour in Europe, need help with Sunn 300T

We were using a Sunn labeled Fender 330T with three pairs of 6550s. one tube went bad due to a careless impedance mismatch. Luckily this amp has good circuit protection, and two of the fuses at the outptut tubes blew.

Before I can replace the pair of tubes, I was curious if it's possible to run this amp without one pair of tubes. The schematic is not available online to my knowledge, so i'm not sure exactly how the pairs are working, and which tubes could be pulled.

    Thanks for any help.

Looking across the back the six tubes are V5,6,7,8,9,10. V5,6 are a push pull pair, as are V7,8, and V9,10. This is not like most amps wher the left theree tubes are one side and the right three tubes are the other.

No reason you can't pull the other tube from a pair and run on the remaining two pairs.

I think it more likely your tube just happened to fail now coincidently. HAving the impedance selector off a notch probably didn;t kill the tube.

Might be more furthur up that link.

Never mind, Enzo posted the whole thing.

WARNING! Musical Instrument amplifiers contain lethal voltages and can retain them even when unplugged. Refer service to qualified personnel.
