Sunn 300T replacement pot?

    Sunn 300T replacement pot?

    I'm working on a Sunn 300T head for a friend--it took a tumble in his equipment trailer and the pots took the brunt of it.

    One pot I'm having a devil of a time finding any kind of replacement reference for is the Compressor EQ Balance pot. It's a dual 10k pot:

    05A10k
    05C10k

    Does anyone have a Fender/Sunn part number for this pot? My usual Fender parts sources don't seem to have it, I don't have the schematic for the preamp section of the 300T.

    And, of course, this hard to find pot was the one most badly damaged...

    Enzo posted a schematic just the other day. Might be identified as a Fender Bassman 300. Do a search. Mine says R102 051679 10K5A 10K5C DET

      Now I guess the question is: where to order one?

      I asked CE Distribution if they could special order it for me. We'll see what they say. I can't find it listed anywhere.

      If worst comes to worst, I might have to pry it open and combine its resistive elements with the shaft, etc... from another pot with the same form factor.

        If CEDist doesn;t have them, then any Fender dealer can just order one from Fender for you.

        Pretty sure the service manual I posted was titled for the Sunn 300T and includes parts lists with part numbers I believe.
        Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

          I visited the local guitar shop listed as a Fender dealer; they said Fender was notoriously slow about parts and that it might take 8 months. Then, they referred me to someone else who is researching it for me. Does that sound right, or does it sound like they just didn't want to mess with it?

          This seems to be one of those nightmare oddball parts. Apparently it was only used in the 300T and one other Fender bass amp.

            Notorious? Some parts from Fender will ship the same week and some can be backordered for 2-3 months, if they are available at all. They will always tell you if the parts are in stock or on backorder. And they usually will let you know how long the wait will be.

            Unless they are normally ordering a lot of parts, some dealers don't want to be bothered ordering a $2 part with the added $7 shipping.

                I did find someone who could order the part for me, and it's supposed to be here in four days. It was a $4 part with $7 shipping, but, hey, if it's an oddball part that's the only thing holding up a repair, it's not that bad.
