    Hi daver

    So you've swapped tubes? (Forgive me for not going back over the whole thread)

    Did you try elevating the heaters? (can't remember if we covered this)

      Yes and yes. I had also run the preamp tubes off of a 6V lantern battery to take the AC out of the equation. Only adding the cap to ground from pin 9 helps. Weird, huh?

        And you re-tensioned the socket pins?/Replaced the socket?
