  • Fender Deluxe 900 static

Hey, I'm new here! My hubby just bought a secondhand Fender Deluxe 900 amp. It has a built-in tuner and some built-in effects. He can play it for about five minutes and then he gets this staticy sound and nothing from the guitar while the static is happening. When the static stops, he can play but it comes right back within seconds.

I did notice that when the static occurs, the lights on the tuner and effects go crazy.

Can someone point me in the direction of what could be wrong? Should we just take it in for repair?

Sounds like the low current supply to the front end is at fault. Possibly a 5v logic supply since the indicator LEDs go nuts. Nothing a non tech can do there. Take it in....

Yes, take it to a competent tech.

Thanks! He is just getting back to playing guitar after being on drums for a few years and was really excited until this started happening. We'll probably take it to Bogner's in Flint. They've fixed my amps before.
