  • Bassman 100

I just picked up a mid 70's Bassman 100. The net posts say that this is basicly a twin reverb minus the reverb and trem. In comparing this to a friends twin, I notice that the twin seems to have more presence and power. Not to say that the Bassman sounds band, it doesn't appear to have the umph that I think it should. Any ideas?

Maybe it needs new tubes / rebiasing / general service / a cap job ?
    Have you tried different cabinets?

You are correct. They sound ok but they don't have the Deluxe,Bandmaster,Twin,Super ect..... sound. Toplogy is different.

And maybe you just need new speaker. Weber Alnico would be the best sounding..
        Cheers

I have a Bassman 100 that I rebuilt into an AB763 style circuit, it basically is a Super/Twin/Showman without trem or reverb. It sounds awesome. I put a Resonance control in it and like that too. I put a .033 cap in one channel and a .047 in the other. The amp is loud as hell, I love it.

Not sure, but I think the OT is bigger than what is in the Twin et all, the thing sounds beefier than any four tube Fender I've heard.
