I own a Peavey Classic VT 212, too. Some days ago the phase effect (I love this very much) did'nt swich off any more, not via footswitch and not via poti. After I read your thread I opened the amp and changed IC U13 with U3 (both are "604" labeled). And - amazing - now the phase effect switche on and off like before! I am not familiar with electronics at all, but this repair was really easy. I only wonder what U3 is needed for, but even if I cannot find this out I will replace the IC with a new one. Do I have to buy them at Peavey or can I use any "604" I can get?

From what I've read, the 604 is obsolete and not available anywhere, but Peavey has a replacement part. Call their parts department, they have always been most helpful and their prices were surprisingly affordable.
