  • Crate Blue Voodoo 120H acting up:

I inherited a Crate BV120-H that when I turn it on sometimes only 2 of the tube lamps light up or none at all. If I tap the side of the cab sometimes I can get 2 lamps to come and at one point all 4 came on. If none of the lamps come on the head is dead if 2 come on it will work, but the tubes dont glow. I am new to amplifiers so any help would be appreciated. I am thinking it is a bad connection or bad solder joint or maybe a bad power supply. I have opened it up but did not see anything unusal, just found the prints on this forum so I will be taking another look soon. Thanks Dadio

Cracked solder. Redo all the solder on the tube sockets and the connectors that carry heater current. Check for overheating on those connectors as well.....replace any that are discolored. Common pcb amp issue.....
