  • Fender Princeton Chorus problems

    Hey guys first post here. I tried searching the forums for my issue, but had no luck, so here we go.

    I have a Princeton Chorus DSP. The issue I am having is when ever I have my low end EQ up past 1 the amp starts to cut in and out, almost like an oscillation and sounds distorted and "farty" for a lack of a better term. This happens both on the clean and overdrive channels. Aside from the distorted "farty" sound, I noticed that the light from the overdrive channel blinks on and off.

    I always play out of the clean channel using an effects pedal.

    This started happening right after my band played a show out on an Indian Reservation a few weeks back. It was an outdoor show with lots of dust and wind.


    I swapped the speakers out, but still had the problem. I gave the pots and input jacks a few good cleanings and the issue is still there.


    I am out ideas on how to fix this and would greatly appreciate any pointers on troubleshooting this down.

    Overdrive LED

    Is the OD channel selected when the LED blinks or are you on the clean channel & it blinks?
    Here is the schematic.
    There are some good test voltages on the schematic.
    Specifically the LED on/off voltages.

      I usually only use the clean channel.

        U10

        Can you check the voltages around U10?
        Print out the schematic & write down the voltages that you aquire, right next to the ones on the print. All around U10.
        Use a blue pen, it will stand out better.
        I would think that the OD LED would light if it maybe found ground.
        The schematic shows -13Vdc to turn it on.
        There is alot of stuff hanging off the LED side of U10.
        Do you have a scope?

          I do not have a scope. Just my multi meter. I will print out the schematic and do the testing after the holiday.
