  • TSL 602 'Squawking'

    Morning all.

As you can probably guess, I'm new here. So, Hi

I'm here in the hope some one can confirm I'm on the right track.

    The Problem:
My TSL 602 has recently started 'Squawking'/playing short bursts or high distortion.

I'n my search for an answer, I've narrowed it down to A leaky Coupling Capacitor on what I think is the Cathode follower.

    I identified it as C65 (at Loc E2 here http://www.drtube.com/schematics/mar...tl60-60-02.pdf )

Would i be correct in thinking that this is the problem?

I'm not new to electronics, but i am new to tube amps.

    Thanks help in advance.

    Turn out the lights

My 79 Marshall JMP 50 was squealing when I turned the volume way up. I took it to my local amp guru and he took it out of the box, turned the chassis up-side-down with the circuit board facing up and plugged everything in. He then turned all the lights off and cranked the volume up until he could see a bright blue sparking where the amp was shorting out. It was an effects loop jack shorting to the chassis.

I thought he was brilliant! The first tech I took it too was stumped but this guy fixed my amp in ten minutes.

    Good Luck

    Robert

ps never touch any part of an open amp with power to it. It could easily kill you. There's like 600 volts running through that chassis.
