  • Yamaha fifty 210, G50-210

Same series as the G100, etc. One of my favorite solid state amps by far.

    I used to have the 410, the 212, and the 210 . . .

The 210 has an issue no one can seem to figure out. I put it in the shop for months and they changed several out of spec componants, and yet nothing changed.

When I got the amp, one of the speakers was blown frozen-- voice coil unmovable.

ANYHOW, here's the issue: When you play a chord, and let it ring, instead of dying away gracefully, it dies away quickly with a nasty solid state distortion.

Before my hundred 212/G100-212 was stolen, I tried switching the heads. The problem followed the head.

    Any thoughts?

If anyone wants to try their hand at the thing, I'll happily ship it!

Do any of the front panel controls effect the distorted decaying signal?
Does it occur on both channels.
Does Reverb on or off effect it.
Right below TR301 & 302 on the power amp page, is an adjustment pot labeled output waveform. This sets the top & bottom of the signal that they are symetrical. Was this pot turned?
The other two pots are for idle bias & carrier voltage. I forget what that (carrier V) one is set to.
Did any of the techs isolate the problem to either the power amp or the preamp?
