  • Deluxe Reverb Power transformer - 0990761

    Hi,

I'm repairing an amp with a bad power transformer. Luckily, I have in stock a 3rd party Deluxe Reverb replacement power transformer - 0990761 - that is the same size/bolt pattern for mounting and has (I'm guessing) the approximate power requirements needed. This Deluxe Reverb replacement is an export model with 4 wires on the primary (Black, Black/Yellow, Black/White and Black/Red. Beyond the normal taps we're all used to seeing there is also an orange wire and a white wire that measure infinite resistance (open) to any of the other wires, primary or secondary. I think I bought this from Mojo but it was many years ago. Mojo says that it is different from what they currently sell and haven't been able to find a spec sheet for the wire pinouts of this older transformer. Can anyone elucidate me on the proper wiring for the primary and what are those White and Orange wires for? If you have a spec sheet/wiring diagram for 0990761 I would be great indebted.

    Thanks,

    Bob M.

What color wires does the PT have?
The schematic should be available on line.

        Is it this one?:

Its a deluxe reverb reissue AB763 if I'm correct, but I cant confirm ''AB763'' right now.

Sorry for the delay on this topic I got really busy.
I got a layout which I made and I add to it the wiring colors just need to plug the wires to the right places, its a prety clear layout,.
Can I email that to you so you can see whats going on?

                Cheers

Well, are you trying to use this power transformer:

I'm just not seeing the PT wiring color set up in my mind with any known PTs I work with.

Deluxe Reverb Reissue - blowing Power Transformers - (thats rights with an S)

Recently replaced a Power Transformer on one of these for a friend. He also had a blown rectifier tube.

Replaced both and within an hour of playing it, he has called and said it all went dead again... just like the first time!

The tranny replacement was pretty straightforward and I assumed he blew it at the gig... bad line voltage or whatever, takin gout the rectifier and the PT.

                        Apparently NOT?

                        Any ideas?

I really hate working on PCB stuff........ but my buddy is down TWO transformers...... getting expensive FAST!

                          Hi
dont know could be a few things, but I thing that you already know, possibly rectifier drawing current in excess, or power valves

This is a old post but I still got my PT in my bench...
any possibilities of you knowing the color codes/wall voltage for this PT.

Let me take a look. I did a drawing of the connections before I pulled the original PT. I know two RED and two YELLOW go to the rectifier tube and I remember the board had the wire colors printed right on each connection so it was hard to make a mistake.
The only wires without board clips were the four for the rectifier. they need need to be soldered to the socket.
