Hey ya'll. So I'm an A1C in the USAF stationed on Okinawa Japan. I was taking my trash out the other night when the glint of three chrome letters caught my eye from inside the dumpster. After a little digging the culprit revealed itself to be a VOX AD100VT modeling amp. Needless to say I left my trash and took the amp with back to the room with me.
I plugged it in and jacked my guitar in, but alas, no sound. The head powers up, and as far as I can see the subs aren't blown, so I'm guessing there's an electrical problem with in the head unit itself. I took the backing board off and removed the head unit, pulled the 12AX7 out of its socket, and gently removed the main board. It does appear that there was a liquid spill involved with the apparent demise of this amp, as there a suspiciously puddle shaped discoloration inside the head and what looks like dry droplets of whatever was spilled into it (knowing this place like I do: Beer) in a couple places around the board itself. I'm stuck at this point however, due to my extremely limited knowledge of electronics. I don't know what signs to look for to diagnose damaged components, how to fix them if I did or if this is amp is even salvageable.
So I'm hoping someone here has the knowledge to help me out. I can post pictures if need be and am proficient enough mechanically and electrically to follow the instructions of someone who knows what they're talking about. Thanks a lot ya'll, hope to hear back from someone soon.
