It is working!!! My replacement roach came from Weber yesterday and I installed it and it worked beautifully. Guess it was a bad roach the whole time.

One thing though. I get a strong pulsing from the tremolo through the speakers when I'm not playing. Is there any way to silence/quieten this?

Thanks for all your help guys.

Hi, Kinggabbo and all. Did you ever get an answer about the pulsing sound? I have that in my '72 twin. Also the vibrato doesn't start to function until the amp has been on several minutes. I suppose that's normal, but is the pulsing sound normal? It changes with the speed knob. Thanks all.

Yes, the thump is normal. You can dampen it with a .01 or .022 cap from the connection lamp/10M resistor to ground (see attachment). If that isn't enough, try a bigger cap.

          Thank you, Albert!

I just had some work done on it, and now I'm selling it. This is reassuring since I don't want to sell faulty gear. I guess the few minutes wait for the trem to start functioning is also normal. My novice logic is that when I cranked it up from cold, it took a few minutes for the trem to happen. Then I turned it off, waited about five minutes and turned it back on, and the trem was there almost immediately. Do you think my novice logic is sound on that?

Could be a weak tremolo tube (V5). Or a dry electrolytic in the oscillator circuit (the blue one in my pic). Are the caps new?

If it takes a long time for the tremolo to kick in, then the 3 ceramic disc caps that are in a line ( a .02 and two .01s) are weak and no longer doing their job without warming up. replace them and your tremolo will come on instantly.

Vibrato Non working with this amp..Just to ad on this topic,,, after checking things out, I found a 470 ohm gone High in the reverb Part its value reading 760 ohms Plus a few out of spec caps..also grid resistors on the o/p valves reading 517 ohms they should be 470!!

Getting back the task..Non lighting lamp, so tacked One across just to See it the oscilator is working. Speed contracontrol now fluckers lamp when selected also still not working,??? Turns out Not only lamp but ldr gone so a quick look in the odd pile of parts to make a op-to unit then solder in Power up...lets Not for get to short phono socket to triger circuit..now shes back in action..
