I use a nice simple Dynascan 3010.
You can set the amplitude from 10mv to 7 volts.
Frequency from 0Hz to 1 Mhz.
Square wave, syne wave or saw tooth.
Short of that , there are software packages that you can purchase & output from your sound card.
You could use a CD player but a song's signal is going to bounce all over the place.
Maybe record a tone and loop it.
That 20mv stated on the schematic is not a concrete voltage level.
After all a hot pickup can easily put out 100mvs.
It is what the designers picked, so all marked voltages will be off if you do not adhere to it.
Doesn't mean you have to use a 20mv signal. Just be aware of the difference another voltage amplitude implies.
