Silverface Princeton Reverb has a buzz when a note decays....or lightly playing an open low E, there is a light buzzy artifact along with the note, especially as the note decays. No buzz when nothing is being played....all is quiet.

It's not the speaker...i tried the amp through another good speaker and the buzz is still there. But the buzz does sound like something i've heard in a bad speaker before?

What's causes buzz? the speaker is mounted securely, the cabinet is tight, nothing rattling....but there's this low buzz coming through the speaker. any ideas?

Is the amp being played to the point of distortion?

You are really holding back here... has anything been done, is it bone stock, are tubes any good, is the filter cap OK? Etc....
Among many other things, such as simply a bad cathode bypass cap on a preamp tube and the like, have you swapped out the rectifier with a known good one yet?
Sometimes a bad rectifier tube has the sonic effect, through the speaker, of a small BB spinning around in a tin can sound ... at low volume levels.
