  • Need Help Fender Acoustisonic

I have a Fender Acoustisonic that I thought I had blown the speakers, in fact the issue was some loose nuts arround the potentiometers. I pulled the knobs off and tightend the nuts and the buzzing sound went away. Unfortunately it looks like I now have five broken potentiometers from being pulled on too hard and are locked into a position. Does anyone know how to repair this or should I just have them all replaced? Please help.....

A number of Fender models of a certain area had knobs that held onto the control shaft too tightly, and when you pulled the knob off, the shaft pulled out of the innards. Each damaged pot will have to come off the board regardless, but it is possible you could disassemble each control and see if you can repair it. Sometimes you can press the shaft back into the plastic wiper assembly. I usually use the tip of my solder iron to gently melt that area slightly to try to restore the grip. But the pot will always be weaker.

But since pots are cheap, and you have to remove them from the board to even try to save them, I suggest just replacing the broken ones.
