HT-5 Clean Channel problem

I am having a non-tube related problem with the clean channel of my HT-5. After about 5 minutes on the clean channel the sound cuts back to almost no power, almost a whisper at times. Then if i keep playing it wil lregain the volume/power but with an unpleasant electronic type distortion. New tubes change nothing. Help?
