I've been off this site for sometime (been playing my guitars rather than amp tinkering when I have spare moment). This site was a huge help when I modded / restored my old Twin Reverb.
I have an issue with my Blues Junior. With no guitar plugged into it, there is a hum that changes in quality as I move the ribbon cable from the 12ax7 tube on the far right as you look at the rear of the amp(V1). The amp hasn't been powered up for some months. When the problem first occurred, I took a chop stick and changed the angle of the ribbon cable of V1 to where it was almost resting on the tube circuit board. It quieted down quite a bit but I fooled around with it a little more and the hum came back much louder. It progressed to a feedback type noise for a while. I've tried many different positions of the cable.
I tried swapping around the 12ax7's and even installed a new 12ax7 in V1..no change. The lower chassis where the tubes plug in is microphonic when tapped. The problem often gets worse when I reinstall the back cover.
Any ideas
