Marshall JCM 2000 clean channel Help

I have a JCM 2000 and on the clean channel the output is greatly diminished. When I switch to any other channel including clean crunch the output is double the power / volume etc. . . Any suggestions?

I would suspect a bad volume pot on the clean channel.
