• DR Re-issue "blanking out"

For lack of a better term, when a very hot signal from an overdrive box is presented to the input, (less than 1VRMS), with a fair amount of thick distortion, and the amp is turned up to about 4 - 5, and a power chord is struck, the amp sounds like the tremolo is kicking in for about 1 to 4 cycles. Very noticable.
At this point I'm thinking the power supply is inadequate, whether that be from bad filtering or from a bad tranny.
Anybody see similar symptoms in this amp? Solutions? Maybe a new vintage style P.T?

Oh jeez I guess I'll never figure out how to make boldface titles

I saw your non-bold title just fine.

I've seen a spate of RI Fenders lately that had defective electrolytics in the power supply, so you're probably on the right track with the "bad filtering."

The ones I've seen were from the early oughts, when there was that counterfeit electrolytic cap scandal that cost Dell so much money in replacing motherboards.

Anyway, I've seen it in Fenders, with Lelon and Illinois branded caps.

Hum, squeal, motorboating, that's what I've heard from Fenders with these bad caps. Sounds like you're getting a little motorboating.

Thanks Euthmia! I'll give a re-cap a shot.
