  • SWR Workingman's 12 Outputs run hot then blows fuse

Hey guys - I'm new to this forum, and Enzo suggested I start a new post for this. I have an SWR Workingman's 12 on the bench today and for the life of me, I can't figure out what's the issue. It came in with a blown fuse, open bridge and 2 shorted outputs. Replaced them and powered it up. It comes up to power acting normal for a few seconds, then develops a hum and the outputs go hot. HOT! I've checked every transistor in the OP section (drivers and bias) out of circuit, and tested every resistor on the board [in the output end of things]. All measure fine. The transistors are mounted to their heatsink, and issue happens with or without load. It doesn't like to stay powered on long enough to look for oscillations or do any meaningful signal tracing while powered up. (Maybe it would, but I really don't wanna risk blowing up the only good pair of outputs I have) Any suggestions? Thanks a lot, y'awl!

haha! Found it! trace between shunt resistor and .01mf cap to ground was cracked. Thanks, Enzo - although the components were good, I wouldn't have found it if it weren't for your suggestion to check r43 and r44. Oscillations disappeared when I pushed on the board at r44. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!
