  • Eden Nemisis (solid state) has low output.

    Hi all,

I friend dropped off his amp hoping I could get it going right again.
He says that the overall volume has dropped suddenly and significantly and was "jumping in and out". He said he could pound on the case and get it back for a while.

I opened the case and resoldered all joints that looked the least bit sketchy but no improvement. The volume is low all the time now and no amount of whacking changes things. The pots all sound clean and clear. The amp gets plenty loud when everything is turned up so i think it's just a sensitivity issue and most likely in the preamp section..

WHat should I be looking for?

    Thanks for any advice.

Go to Eden's own forum. They have found many of the weak circuit designs. Use "research" before you post.....

Does it have an FX loop? Does it have a preamp out/powr amp in pair of jacks? In either case, patch across the pair with a cord. ANy help?

Sorry folks, it took me a couple of weeks to get back to this job. I did check out that Eden forum, thanks for the tip.

Well it was the FX return jack. Thanks for that too! The owner had never used it. I'll know to check that first next time.

I should get a nail gun just to silence the damn bullet tweeters. Turns me off every Eden amp rig I've ever used. Never understood the attraction of those things but I suppose most slappers must be deaf above 2k.
