  • Fender DRRI 110 to 220v

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and had a question. I recently moved to Europe where the power out of the wall is 220-240 with 50hz cycle.

Is it possible to simply jump the transformer inside the amp or do I have to have the amplifiers transformer changed?

I thought about buying a transformer I can simply plug the amp into but I've been hearing stories of noise associated with these units.

    Thanks for the help.

The USA transformer is 041316, and it only has the 120v winding.

The export transformer is 041317, and it covers 240, 230, and 100v, but not 120v.

You could get a 041317 and install it, change the mains fuse to 1A, and pull the wires off the ground switch - if yours has one.

Otherwise, get a external step-down transformer and leave everything in the amp alone.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

I used a step down transformer for a couple of years on a Peavey Classic 50 when I lived in China, including gigs, and never had any noise or other problems.
