Hi, I have a Marshall Valvestate which works fine except the reverb doesnt seem to have any effect. Whats the best way of checking this? I can borrow a spare tank to try later but wondered if there was a quick test? Thanks

"measure the RCA jacks on the reverb pan with a continuity test.." if it buzzes the coils are ok. you can also measure them with the ohmeter and you should have a few ohms to a few kohms depending of the reverb coil you're testing.
if your reverb pan is OK you should check for a large quad op-amp that does all the reverb work. Trace the signal according to the schematic and check if it's passing or receiving signal. It's an LM348 IC if i remember correctly.
You can always replace that IC with a new one and even a TL084 or any IC with less noise ratio.
What i do normally is i take the rca cables coming from the amp and i touch the tip. IF the amp buzzes means that the reverb recovery stage is working properly and the problem is isolated in the signal that is sent to the reverb or the reverb coil itself.Hearing Is Believing
