Univox model 400 blown speakers

This amp came in w/ 2 blown speakers. I disconnected them to see why the amp wasn't working and sure 'nough it's the speakers, as the external jack works w/ my test speaker. I tested the 2 Jensen C10Q speakers w/ a 9v tap test and got nothing. I'm curious as to why this might happen. The amp is rated at 90watts and the speakers at 35watts each (70watts total). This is my guess as to why the speakers are blown. Correct me if I'm wrong. My thoughts are that if the owner is cranking this amp and it's overdriven, this can overheat the voice coils due to the flatter parts of the ac wave. So I may suggest that the owner go to 45-60 watt speakers.

If there Vintage Jensens Get them reconed.It will sound much better than Reissue and will cost less,$50 each or you can give them to me!!

Yeah, he needs at least 45 watt speakers in there. I wish I could get speakers reconed for $50 each, it's more like $80 here in L.A.
