  • Crate CR-165B ?

    Hi Folks,

I'm working on a Crate CR-165B that wasn't working when I got it. The first thing I did was replace the IN5392 diodes in the power section with GP10M-002s. When I powered it up they disintegrated, so I started checking each part. I noticed that two parts numbers did not match what was on the layout. These were Q1,and Q2 which are showing as PN4249s, but the installed parts are 2N5087s. Would this cause an issue? I also found one suspect transistor listed as SJ4353, but have 2N3055s installed.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks, Tom

Yeah I have a Schematic for a CR-45 8/4/80 in front of me right now that has the notes on it telling that they replaced SJ4353=2N3055 and PN4249=2n5087 ( also keep in mind PNP and NPN cause the other version of the 2N5087 is the 2N5088). I will attach the Schematic to show it (also the circuit is similar to cr212 and cr112) Hanger-18.....CR-45 Schematics.pdf

Thank you for the info. I had put this project away for now. It kept burning up parts. I'll get back on it when my patience has returned
