I have a 1973 Sunn Concert Lead that was dropped and then butchered by someone trying to repair the poor thing. I have everything back together but have a problem with the power amp - actually Q3 (see PA schematic).
After power up with no signal input or load - R304/308 reaches about 200F in 30 seconds and Q3 isn't far behind in temperature. All other output devices and drivers are not getting hot. Q3 has about 46V on the collector and there is about 5 volts on the base and 4.3V on the emitter (yup it's an emitter follower). I've checked all the traces, power supply rails and components in the circuit and can't find a reason for the overheating (oddly the timmer pot R310 has no effect but tests out fine.)
Any ideas?
