Peavey Triumph 120 - Bad relay causing bad sound?

The Ultra gain works fine. The only difference between it and the crunch that I can see is the pre control. Is it possible that bad switching action on the part of the relay could cause the crunch sound to be garbled and static-y?

Ok, after banging and probing on the thing it works fine. Eek! That scares me worse than the problem. Looks like a re-flow job now.
