  • crate v15 bias

picked up a used crate v15 (v1512) - i have read some of the post in which the fender blues jr is biased hot ( high current ) and recommend to change the cathode resistor for the power tubes - is this the case with the crate also - i see the v15 uses a 120 ohm for the el84s cathode resistor - if so what value are you using - oo3

Used 141Ohm worth of cathode resistors for power tubes,* I run them at just under the rated plate dissipation and at rated voltage.
From notes to Steve Hoover's mods to his Crate V15. I've heard it~ yum!

The Blues Jr is fixed bias (as is the Pro Jr & Laney's LC15), thus it has no cathode resistor. It's the bias supply load resistor that needs adjusting on that model.
