This amp has taken a fall and now it shuts down after about 5 mins, turn it off and the same thing happens.Other guys have had no luck and I see a few replaced parts. So after the usual check for bad solder joints and broken components I've made no progress.I unplugged the seperate boards from the main board to find that it runs fine when the EQ/input board it unplugged from the main board. There is a 4 pin molex that has had its solder joints repaired in an iffy manner.Other than that I,m stuck am may recommend the owner contact Ampeg.Any ideas what else I may try?

And AMpeg will refer them to the nearest authorized repair shop. They don't have people there to assist people in learning component level repair.
What does "shuts down" mean? To me shut down means all power is gone, leaving zero sign of life. Is that what you have? Or are you meaning the audio signal goes away?
The PB250 is not a simple amp.
Does the amp work well for the five minutes before it shuts down? Or does it have issues even then? And does it shut down like a switch was being flipped? Or does it fade out or go through a few seconds of transition?
You could have a basic problem in hte inoput board, but then again, by disconnecting it, you may have interrupted the amps ability to control part of the circuit.
Is any part getting hot that might not normally?
Hit the board you are unplugging with freeze spray. Does that wake it up??Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

By shut down I mean all lights go out no sign of life. There is a transition of distorted sound followed by a volume fade to silence. Before this happens the sound is fine.I haven't taken any temp readings yet,No freeze spray on hand. This may be more than I feel qualified to get I don't mind sending people to someone more qualified.
