  • Wiring a Fender style lamp with 110v, dropping resistor 100k ??

I got the wrong lamp/bulb combo from AES but I'm told it can be wired up using a dropping resistor of say 100-200k.The bulb is an NE51 and since I bought two I figure I'll just do it that way but I'm not entirely sure how to go about it.

I'm thinking just insert it in series next to the power switch, the current flows from pos. to neg. if I recall. What else do I need to know ?

if you need a fender pilot 6 volt bulbs are cheap and readily available.

That bulb has a .0003amp rating. 110v/.0003amps=367k. The nearest value should be 390k. A half watt is plenty.

Really? The Fender bulbs in my stock are 6.3V/150mA. The resistor would see 103.7V @ .15A, value would be 691.3 Ohms/15.5W.
        I'd prefer to buy a 110V lamp

Edit: Looked up the specs of the NE51, it is not a "Fender style lamp". Lowell, your calculation is right.

        Cheers,
        Albert
