I purchased this amp new in may, have been quite happy with it. Never been gigged. It was sittin in the basement and apparently water leaked from the shower above onto the top of the amp. Looked like a minimal amount of water maybe a half cup all together on the floor and top of the amp. Dried off the top of the amp and tried her out and not good. It started crackling and hissing, channel one seamed really weak and channel 2 almost sounded normal but with a lot of extra noise. A loud pop when switching channels. I tried changing pre amp tubes to no avail. Power tubes light up like always. Am i sunk? Just happened today, so ya all think it might possibly dry out or be repairable? Thanks.

Well my first statement is that whenever any piece of electronics gets wet, DO NOT PLUG IT IN UNTIL IT HAS BEEN DRIED AND CHECKED OUT.
Water will conduct electricity and turning on a wet amp will cause more damage than the water alone will do.
Pull it apart and inspect for water/moisture on the inside of the chassis. Also check for any signs of charred or burned components or pc traces.
If this is beyond the scope of your abilities, contact Traynor as they have a very good service department.

thanks bill, your right i shouldnt of even turned it on, but i didnt even think there was enuff water to even seep into the electronics, a couple of paper towles was enuff to dry off the top of the amp. ill let it sit for a couple days and then if no go ill contact traynor. Thanks again Bill

They are VERY generous with their warranty ("even if you break it") so I would expect they will cover it. Anything short of earthquake, fire or flood is usually covered. Doesn't sound like a flood to me, more like being out in the rain awhile.
For that matter it may still be damp inside and work proper once it is completely dry.Originally posted by EnzoI have a sign in my shop that says, "Never think up reasons not to check something."
