amp cuts in and out

hey, hopefully someone will have some insight here...

I have a 2 channel amp and use an a/b switch to switch between them. when i switch to the second channel after it's been unused for a few minutes there is no sound until i hit the strings hard, then it comes back in and stays on until it's unused for a while. i've changed tubes (although i could still have a bad one), and resoldered all the joints in the amp. it's hand-wired, so no smp or pcb to deal with.

any ideas?

Sounds like the switch in your A/B box is bad. Try the guitar straight into each channel, no A/B box.

I'll try replacing it, but i have swapped the inputs on the amp and it still happens.
