The popping is not as loud or frequent as it was. The best way I can describe the noise is if you put a mic on a carpet and slowly pulled it around by the cable until you get to some stairs and then you start pulling the mic faster until you yank it down a set of stairs

I decided to re-measure all the resistors in the cathode follower circuit. They all check out within tolerance. For giggles I swapped out R29, the 1 watt 47K resistor and sure enough that was the culprit. Thanks again Lowell for helping narrow down the correct stage.

Yes in deed. The amp is very quiet now.
