  • Amp Tech in Gdansk, Poland?

I have an acquaintance looking for an amp tech in or near Gdansk. He needs a power transformer that will work for the local voltage.

Local voltage in Poland is 230V. What exactly does your friend need? An external transformer to convert 230V to 120V? Or a transformer for a specific amp?

      Hi Mark, thanks for responding.

It's a twin reverb and I think he would like to convert it. The amp is already in Poland so I'm trying to help him find a tech to do the work.

If this is 120V version (without export version transformer), there are two solutions:
        - either order export version transformer from the States - you can help him do it (may be expensive)
        - or go to local ebay called allegro.pl and do a search for "transformator USA". This is external transformer (230V->120V) and he needs something between 200 and 300W. They are cheap - price is about $50 (divide the price in local currency by 3).
        For example these two:
        Transformator USA 230V/110V AC 50Hz o mocy 200VA ! (1274379363) - Aukcje internetowe Allegro
        or
        Transformator USA 230V/110V AC 50Hz o mocy 300VA ! (1276356678) - Aukcje internetowe Allegro

PS:Twin Reverb had several versions: Fender Twin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So if you decide to order the export version transformer, you may need to ask your colleague some more details. And I'm located about 200 miles from Gdansk so I will not be able to help directly (unless he sends me the amp).

EDIT: he can try to contact this company: Kontakt - Lauda AUDIO .pl They are Marshall and Peavey dealer and I'm sure that they have a service. But don't expect that this will be cheap. Ask for a cost estimation first.

Don't TAD do a replacement transformer for it? They're in Germany.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"
