  • Carvin X100B Reissue Issue

OK folks..I finally got the X100B Reissue from my friend to try ,and fix. It's an 08 with RevC main board. I have found R78 ,R79 (output tube filaments V17 pin 7, V18 pin 2) and R87 (V11 pin 5)burned . The tubes are original, and everything else seems to be in order. Could the age of the tubes have caused this? He had a lot of hours on this amp. Any thoughts?

    Thanks, Tom

I'm thinking a plate to heater short in one of the power tubes. Yes, the age of the tubes can be what caused this. Replace the power tubes and R's- 78, 79, 86 and 87 with new resistors. Don't be too surprised if there are other things not visibly burned that have also failed.
