  • Fender Pro Reverb Vibrato ticking

I know this is a much discussed issue and from what I've researched there is no fix. Just wondering if anyone DOES have any helpful mods and or fixes. The ticking is gone with the vibrato switch OFF, but the ticking is there with the switch on even with the intensity knob all the way down. I've checked the intensity pot and it's connections, they're fine.

In most cases a .01 cap from the 10M/bulb connection to ground helps to reduce the ticking. Sometimes a .022 or higher is better.

      Vibrato Fix

Attached is a copy of Fender's suggested fixes.
If they don't work, there are a few other things you could do, however try these first.

Well the cap didn't really do anything unfortunately. However, moving the vibrato tube grid wires away from the plate wires REALLY helped alot.

If you can live without the Tremolo (Vibrato) then pull the tube. If not you could further dress the leads to the speed and intensity controls and move them away from the tone controls. If you can you may want to shorten the speed and intensity control wires once properly dressed. Did you use a Mylar cap?

i have eliminated the vibrato tick in some of these amps by zip-tying those wires TOGETHER

The Fender service bulletin recommends Mylar cap. Not sure if it makes a difference or not. It would be interesting to A/B them though.

I recently replaced the plate resistors in a fender tremolo circuit. The tremolo sounded kind of ticking due to it. Try raising/lowering the volume knob fast in the tremolo channel and see if you get a noise that's similar to the ticking noise.

May want to try a .02 uF cap also.
