So I replaced the diodes, and the results are the same. Still a lot of hum, all controls at zero. Voltage is still high on pin 5 of tubes. Actually lower than it was without the tubes (.05 V ) before it was .2 , and .3 V, but about the same with the tubes (1.4v ) I have 2 new tubes on the way, and 2 new ones here I will check then. The tubes I'm using were supposed to have been tested at 90% .

        Humm Vac

        Can you quantify this hum?
With no input connected & all controls off, measure the AC voltage at the speaker terminals.
Anything over .009Vac is cause for concern.

            200mv hum.
            That's a lot.

Could it be an issue with the tubes?

                Please help with this can

I think I may have found an issue with the way I wired the can cap. It is C19 -C20 which is actually one cap. I have attached an original pic, and after pic. The cap I installed is a JJ 100 x 100 500V . I may have it wrong. I'm almost sure I have it wrong. There are the 2 10K 3 watt resistors, a red wire with a light (gray ?) stripe feeds pin 6 on V3, and a red with a black stripe ( looks like it feeds pins 1 & 6 on V1 ,and V2. I was confused with the markings on the original cap, and I thought I may have figured it out , but the schematic shows different. It does not show one end of a resistor going to the negative terminal of the cap, which is what I have. I just need to figure how this is wired.

Its wrong. There should be a 10k that connects the 2 sections together, not a wire.

Yep , I was mislead . I didn't realize the original cap was a dual section ,and was told to series the JJ. So one of the 10K resistors is terminated on one + to the other +, and the other 10K from that point to the chokes ,and C18 cap ?

                    Thanks a heap
