  • vox ac30cch tube question

hey new to the site cool site lots of good info here. my question is how long should i wait before taking the shell/housing off my amp head and start troubleshooting the tubes? i know that electricity can be stored in some parts of the amp head for a while. and what part of the amp head should i stay away from to avoid shock even after the power cable has been pulled? thanks for any help.

In all honesty & with due respect, it sounds as if you should stay out of the amp.
If you are truly asking what items will "bight you", then you should not be in there.
This amp is a bit complicated.
What problem are you tring to isolate?

Thx for the reply. I have the same concerns. But I am trying to save money and amp techs are really expensive. The amp has blown the ht fuse and the main fuse once. I replaced both. And then it blew the main fuse. I replaced it again. Then the main fuse blew again. So I would like to troubleshoot the power tubes and the rectifier tube.
This amp is a 2008 reissue bought from guitar center. A question i have is that the electricity should be totally drained from the amp after a few days right? Thanks for any help

        Remove the power tubes.
Insert a new fuse & try it again.
If it pops, it most likely is the rectifier tube.
I cannot advise on how long the power is held.
