  • Randall Rg100es - Red chanel barley works

I have a Rg100es amp. I made a footpedal with DPDT swithes and the correct plug using the schematic. I am able to get the amp to switch chanels but can barley hear the red chanel.

    Things to note,

    1. my footpedal does not have leds in the circuit - what kind do i use?
    2. Pots were cleaned a few times.
    3. The leds red/green were replaced with two blue ones
    4. I dont see any obvious damage to any parts

Just looking for some advice on where to go from here.

    Hello:

I have one of these. I had/have some hum issues, but haven't had time to work on yet.

I am no guru, so my opinion is worth exactly what you pay for it (ha ha). However, I don't think the footswitch LEDs are critical. It should be low voltage at that point in the circuit and if you built the pedal without it, it should still work. I replaced one of mine in my footswitch with radio shack generic LED that fit the holder.

Regarding the red channel sounding weak, are you sure that you are switching channels? When you are in the green channel, you can hear the red channel bleed into it if you have the gain up. That just seems to be a "normal" feature of this amp. I usually have to turn the gain and volume down for the channel I am not using. Could it be you are still stuck in the green channel?

The other think I run into a lot with my (original 1983) pedal is that it is loose and you have to jiggle it some in the slots to get it to switch. It sounds like maybe you have a new connector, so might not be problem for you, but its something I live with, so I thought I'd mention it.

I didnt think it was the LEDs either. Im pretty sure only the red channel led is on when i switch the pedal. Im going to have to re-verify that when i get home today. I was always thinkin the little bit of sound i was hearing was bleeding from the green channel. Im pretty confident i am switched to the red channel only but not hearing anything from it.

If you cant get it working right, would you be interested in selling it?
