  • no sound lifco 630

    Hi all,
I just got a lifco 630 with trem and reverb . Its actually called 630 -2. I ve seen another 630 -4 that has no reverb but 4 input jacks. I think that one is a little more power than the 630 -2. I supect they are copies of traynor YGM-1 and YGM-2. Anyways.. there is no sound what so ever . It lights up, all the tubes are glowing. No signs of broken wires or contacts. Ive tried working all the jacks repeatedly. Worked all the dials, nothing. Not a scratch or crackle. The guy I got it from said it worked before I tilted it forward when I first got there. I just wanted to look at the back, I just tilted it forward. I think I ended up getting it cheaper because it no longer worked, or the guy was just full of crap. I'm dying to be able to try this thing out, but I have no idea where to start.
Any suggestions would be great. I'll get some pics u as soon as I can.
    Thanks

I found the problem. I actually found the resource on this forum for no sound after I made my post. Some good info in there. The key for me was to first make sure all the tubes were good. They were not. I tested them for a buck each at A1 electronic parts and found a bad 12AX7 pre tube. Replaced the tube and away it went. So now I have to deal with the reverb and the tremolo not working. I have read that the trem problem is usually a bad resistor. The reverb looks ok but no sound.
Hey, that one you are looking at is the one with no reverb. Interesting that it is also a combo to head conversion like mine (I'll get my pics posted soon). I guess it was a common thing to do back in the day. I think the price is steep considering it is not original. Even with the speaker cab included. Mines about 20 watts, yours I think is a little more. Either way, not quite loud enough to jam with drums. Lifco's don't demand the price that Traynors do although there are some Lifco's that are copies of Traynors. I have one called Lifco Model 1000 which is a copy of an early YBA-1 with 7027 power tubes. I love it. Got it for half the price of a Traynor.
