  • Is anybody familiar with the Peavey Classic 100 top?

I have one of these at home for repair and the owner claims that he has to set the controls in the lead channel (Pre & Post) a lot higher than he used to. I checked all tubes and replaced them with known good ones but there is no difference. The pots all seem to be original (I thought maybe someone replaced a linear pot with an audio taper).

Fully cranked the lead channel is as loud as the clean one, which is louder than I would ever want to be on any stage. Both channels sound fine to me. The only problem is, that the clean volume pot has a steeper curve in the lower range and flattens out in the upper range and the lead pots are the other way around.

Can there be some kind of defect that causes this? The owner swears that the controlls on both channels reacted the same until lately ...

    thanks!

PS: if anybody has a schematic, that would be great!

Peavey has plenty of schematics, contact customer service at the factory.
