  • Peavey TKO bass amp

    Hi guys,

Electronics is not my cup of tea but I'm very curious...and want to learn...

Peavey TKO 80w, with no sound out...CHecked the speaker with a 9v and found OK, no breaks/tears at inspection. Take the amp out of the cab unplug speaker connector and inspect. Found nothing special no burnt component, check fuses and all ok. Reassemble and test now have sound but very noisy on the input jack then went ok. Just now if pregain above 2, the low string of bass sounds very distorted while other strings are OK...is this normal? SHuld I be able to raise pregain without distorsion? Also if I tap on the top of the amp I hear weird sounds...

Just trying to figure out what I did to "fix" it...and obtain guidance as what to check for with this kind of problem...

    THanks.

When you took it apart, you flexed it.

There are a couple patch jacks on the front - Preamp Out and Power Amp In. Poke a plug in and out of the power amp jack a couple times. Did that wake it up? If so, spray some cleaner in that jack and push a plug in and out a few more times.

And if no help, plug your signal into the power amp jack instead of the regular input. Sound OK? Or does it still sound crappy?
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
