I just got a Fender Roc Pro 1000 half stack in a trade. I really like the sound of the amp, its loud and ballsy, just what i was looking for. The guy i got it off is the original owner and never changed the preamp tube. Would changing it to this tube make any difference? Also is changing the tube hard? I've never done it before

    Hi, tuxedotomson.

I've never changed the tube in one of those, but it's probably not difficult, However, in that amp I really doubt that you would hear much difference in the sound, if any. That tube will probably last a very long time.

Besides, if you like the way it sounds now ... if it ain't broke, well, you know.

Simple enough to change, pull old one straight out, push new one straight in. But I agree, I think there is little point unless you just want to futz with your amp. Small tubes like that can fail, but they also can last for decades.
