I just finished a rebuild of an old silverface Champ from the 70's. Since I didn't like the sound of the old one and blew some caps, I decided to use the Weber 5f1 design and do a tweed champ.
Here is the issue. I got it up and running tonight, but the voltages on the power supply caps are running near 450 and I have over 240-50 on the + side of the .22mf caps and it says 150 on the layout.
The amp plays, but it is major Neil Young, overly compressed, and looses volume as you play a note or two. The elecrolytics charged, (discharging now so I can check circuit) and I can't for the life of me figure what went wrong. Built a few kit amps and a two stroke a couple years ago and just got back into it, so I am stumped.
Any suggestions?
